Intraoral welding was invented by Dr. Pierluigi Mondani in Italy in the early 70's. It is used to weld the dental implants implanted in the patient's mouth together with titanium strips. Dentists can then make the dentures on the welded titanium metal frame and do immediate loading. After 40 years of clinical practice, it has been proven to stabilize dental implants immediately and efficiently.

​Dr. Chien-Hai Li was one of the first Taiwanese dentists to go to Italy to learn intraoral welding technology from Dr. Marco Degidi. After Dr. Li completed his study and return to Taiwan in 2014, he further refined practical applications of clinical treatments as well as changed intraoral welding that took place in patients' mouth to extraoral welding and complete friction-retained full denture within the same day. This practice was published in Taiwan Dental Circle, Volume 38, Issue 5, 2019. Several clinical research reports in Chinese and English have been published, and speeches have been delivered at every World Oral Welding Congress since 2015, as well as patented inventions of related professional accessories.
